With major climate challenges facing the world today, it is our generation’s responsibility to foster change in the social and economic landscapes that have brought us to this point. The only way to change history is to understand it and use a systematic approach to identify patterns and solutions. Thus, education is the most powerful tool for prevention and progress, equipping this generation and the next with the knowledge and skills necessary to create meaningful change.
In collaboration with subject deans and administrators, I have developed a certification program for students at Ross and other schools across Long Island. This initiative emphasizes mastery and demonstrated interest in topics related to environmental sustainability and economics, providing a STEM-oriented framework to inspire informed, actionable change in our local communities and beyond.
Having studied at Ross my entire life, I have been shaped by an environment that is multicultural and multifaceted, fostering my interests and ambitions. At the heart of this experience is the spiral curriculum, which is a fundamental element of the Ross approach to education. Through revisiting core concepts across disciplines in increasingly complex ways, the spiral curriculum has allowed me to build a deep and interconnected understanding of the world. This approach has not only enhanced my knowledge but also encouraged critical thinking and creativity as I strive to create change.
The curriculum’s emphasis on the core values of compassion, cooperation, courage, gratitude, integrity, mindfulness, respect, and responsibility, has deepened my empathy for myself and others, allowing me to grow as a student and as an individual. These values have provided me with a safe and inclusive space to explore, express, and develop my ideas. Inspired by these principles, I aim to use my senior project to give back to a community that has given so much to me. Through this project, I intend to highlight the value of applied learning and demonstrate how this method can empower others to embrace a mindset of exploration, innovation, and meaningful impact throughout all they pursue.
My Mission
Witnessing firsthand disparities caused by income inequality in countries like Thailand and Zimbabwe has shaped and motivated my commitment to fostering change through education. In Thailand, where rapid economic growth coexists with significant wealth disparity, and Zimbabwe, where systemic challenges have exacerbated poverty, I have come to understand how uneven access to resources and opportunities perpetuates cycles of inequality.
These disparities are not purely economic, they are questions of social, environmental, and ethical relations within contemporary global relations. They motivate me to take action, recognizing that education is the only lasting tool for breaking these cycles. Through equipping students with the knowledge to identify systemic patterns and create solutions, we can address these inequalities at their roots.
Using these experiences and realizations as my motivation I aim to use education to help others see the interconnected nature of our world and motivate a mindset of innovation, compassion, and progress academically and beyond.
